Rapid Validation & Screening
Rapid Validation & Screening (RVS) is a no-touch, early-stage screening service designed to help grantmakers quickly confirm basic organizational legitimacy and identify material risk indicators before committing staff time, requesting documents, or initiating more resource-intensive review. It is used during initial scoping to support prioritization and sequencing, not to conduct due diligence or make compliance determinations.
RVS is designed to help funders allocate diligence resources proportionately, reserving more intensive review for organizations that demonstrate basic legal standing, operational activity, and a credible public benefit purpose. Drawing on Paragon’s cross-border philanthropy expertise, the service applies a structured, risk-based methodology that synthesizes registry information, public disclosures, and relevant public reporting to support early judgment about whether a prospective partner warrants further engagement.
Each RVS report is structured around two complementary elements: risk screening and entity validation, which together provide a grounded view of organizational legitimacy and early risk exposure at the scoping stage.
Risk Screening Overview
As part of Rapid Validation & Screening, Paragon conducts a focused review of the organization and relevant individuals to identify material risk indicators that may warrant closer scrutiny. The screening is designed to surface potential issues that could complicate grantmaking, investment, or partnership decisions if left unexamined at the scoping stage.
The review considers, at a high level, whether publicly available information indicates exposure to sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), or adverse reputational matters, including allegations related to corruption, fraud, governance failures, financial misconduct, or other integrity concerns. Where relevant, the screening also takes into account publicly reported environmental, labor, or human rights issues that may be material to a funder’s risk assessment.
Entity Validation
Entity validation focuses on confirming that a prospective partner is legally established, active, and operating in a manner consistent with its stated public benefit purpose. At the scoping stage, this helps funders distinguish between organizations that appear credible online and those that can substantiate their claims through official records and observable activity.
As part of Rapid Validation & Screening, Paragon reviews relevant registration records to confirm the organization’s legal status and current standing in the applicable jurisdiction. For nonprofit entities, this review also considers whether stated mission language in official filings or governing documents is broadly consistent with publicly available evidence of activity, such as program disclosures or organizational reporting. The validation process may also surface indicators that an entity is dormant, suspended, or otherwise inactive.
For companies, trusts, or other non-nonprofit entities, validation is limited to confirming legal registration and current standing, without assessing mission alignment or programmatic activity.
Assessment Summary and Deliverable
Rapid Validation & Screening delivers a concise analytical summary reflecting an analyst-led synthesis of information surfaced through risk screening and entity validation, with attention to the nature, severity, and interaction of identified risk indicators.
Where significant concerns are identified, such as sanctions exposure, adverse legal status, or unresolved reputational issues, these are clearly described and contextualized. Analyst commentary highlights material considerations, notes relevant limitations, and explains why particular issues may warrant caution, follow-up, or escalation.
Supporting documentation is included where relevant to substantiate observations and provide context for interpretation. The deliverable is intended to facilitate internal discussion and record-keeping, rather than to function as a standalone diligence conclusion.
Who Uses RVS
Rapid Validation & Screening is used by institutional funders and impact-oriented organizations that need early, defensible insight into prospective partners before committing resources or initiating more intensive review. It is most commonly requested by foundations and donor collaboratives assessing new grantees, corporate and impact-investing teams evaluating potential partners or investees, and public or multilateral funders operating under time or operational constraints.
No-Touch Service
Rapid Validation & Screening is conducted on a no-touch basis. Paragon does not contact the organization under review, request information directly from the entity, or seek affidavits or certified documents. All analysis is based on registry records, public disclosures, and other reliable third-party sources available at the scoping stage.
Related Service
Paragon’s Nonprofit Validation service provides a focused review of nonprofit legal registration and public benefit status. Rapid Validation & Screening incorporates the same foundational validation elements and extends them through additional, early-stage risk screening to support broader scoping and prioritization decisions.
